Day 1:

Arrive in Rome
Upon exiting customs, you will be met by an Adventures by Disney representative who will escort you to your transfer vehicle. Relax as the driver assists with your luggage and escorts you to the Hotel Empire Palace.

Check into Empire Palace Hotel
You will be checked into your resort before you arrive, so take some time to explore this enchanting resort that used to be the palatial home of a noble Venetian family.

Welcome Reception and Dinner at Hotel
Meet the other families that will share the adventure! Gather together and enjoy your first of many mouthwatering Italian feasts.

Highlights of Rome
Learn the legends and relive the majesty of Rome's glorious past! Walk through history at the ancient Colosseum, the Forum and a photo stop at St. Peters Square - it's a timeless journey your family will treasure forever.

After your city tour, share an authentic Roman pizza with your family at this celebrated café.

Optional Walking Tour of Historic Rome
Follow an ancient road to the dazzling destinations in the city, from the famed Spanish Steps to the twinkling Trevi Fountain. Cap off your tour with a taste of heaven - Italian ice cream, called "gelato"!

Day 3:

Travel to Orvieto, Umbria
After breakfast, board a luxury motor coach to the glorious Umbrian and Tuscan countryside. Along the way, take an illuminating excursion to Orvieto, a medieval settlement crowned with a glorious Gothic cathedral!

Explore this charming village that seems frozen in time! Your Adventure Guides will be happy to make recommendations for a fabulous family afternoon.

Arrive at Villa Belvedere Campoli, Tuscany
Welcome to the enchanting Tuscan villa that will be your home for the next few days. Explore the grounds, take a swim or learn to play bocce ball - there's magic around every turn!

Kids Only and Adults Only Dinner
At the villa, kids cut loose at their own dinner party with their favorite foods. In the meantime, adults can enjoy a quiet evening dining at the villa.

Disney Movie
Cuddle up and catch a classic Disney film in a storybook setting. This is no ordinary movie screening!

Morning at the Villa
Embrace your morning in paradise and relax on the grounds of your villa. Play bocce ball, take a swim or simply nap underneath the Tuscan sun. This is your time to live "la dolce vita"!

Morning Excursion to Monteriggioni
Journey to this beautifully preserved medieval village and see what lies behind its fortified walls. This tiny village is so famous; it's named in Dante's "Divine Comedy"!

Cooking Class and Lunch
Gather the family together in the villa's kitchen - and learn the art of preparing a real Italian feast! This special event for Adventures by Disney Guests will have the whole family cooking up a magical, memorable meal!

Shopping and Dinner in San Gimignano
Enjoy shopping and dinner on your own in this ancient hilltop village. San Gimignano boasts a fascinating history of family feuds and incredible tower-houses that will stir your imagination with their stories.

Travel to Florence
After breakfast at the villa, board a luxury motor coach for a picturesque ride to the breathtaking city of Florence.

City Tour
Share the timeless treasures of the Renaissance on a privately-guided tour designed to enchant travelers of all ages. Marvel at Michelangelo's "David", the Duomo and Dante's home.

Lunch in Florence
With the assistance of your Adventure Guides, enjoy a pleasant family lunch at a sidewalk cafe or an authentic pizzeria.

Afternoon in Florence
Walk through the pages of history and discover the beauty of this magical metropolis. Shop for treasures at a bustling marketplace or gaze at great works of art in magnificent museums. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish!

Tuscan Barbeque Dinner at the Villa
Take your time and dine as you wish. Bring the family together, dig into a leisurely supper and watch the sun dip beneath the Tuscan countryside.

Excursion to Siena
After breakfast, journey to Siena, an enchanting city that is remarkably preserved in all of its medieval glory. Trip through time and visit the Duomo, Piccolomini Library and enjoy exclusive entrance to the Eagle Contrada Museum.

Your Adventure Guides can suggest where to indulge in a special family lunch in this charming town.

Farewell Dinner at Villa Belvedere on Belvedere Terrace
At the end of the day, return to the lush gardens of the villa for a festive feast with your fellow travelers. Tonight, celebrate your final evening in the countryside at an authentic Tuscan celebration with entertainment for the whole family!

Is a passport required for this itinerary?
U.S. citizens will need a valid passport to enter Italy and return to the United States. The passport must be valid six months beyond the intended stay and have 1-2 blank pages remaining. Allow sufficient time to have the application processed if applying for a new passport or renewing an expired passport – refer to www.state.gov for further details. In addition, guests 17 years of age or younger may be required to show additional documentation when traveling with a single parent. Non-U.S. citizens should check with  their local government for information on documentation requirements.

What airport do Guests fly in and out of?
Guests are picked up at Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) in Rome on arrival day. Flights should arrive no later than 3:00 p.m. At the end of the adventure, Guests will transfer to Peretola Airport in Florence (FLR) for flights departing no earlier than 10:00 a.m.

Are transfers included for arrivals or departures from different locations or at different times from the itinerary?
No. Transfers are only included from the specified arrival/departure airports and hotels.  For the Taste of Tuscany trip, transfers are included from Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) in Rome to the Hotel Empire Palace on arrival day. On departure day, transfers are included from the Villa Belvedere Campoli to the Florence-Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR).

Can the vacation extend beyond the Adventures by Disney itinerary?
Yes, Guests may stay in Italy before the itinerary. Extended stays are available at special rates if booked through Adventures by Disney Travel Services, Inc. in conjunction with a land package and cannot be combined with any other offer. Please contact us for further information.

During the adventure, Guests travel by motor coach and Eurostar train between destinations in Italy.

What is the climate like?
During the summer months, the weather in Italy is warm, with highs during the day at 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and around 60 degrees at night. You can expect sunshine and very little rainfall.

How strenuous are the activities?
While this adventure is not considered physically strenuous, most days will include two or more hours of city walking, often on uneven cobblestone streets. While nearly all of the trip’s featured activities are gentle if examined separately, the full range of activities requires a moderate amount of stamina in order to get the most of your vacation.

What is the basis for the suggested minimum age for this trip?
While Disney welcomes children ages 4 and up at the time of travel, it is recommended that children be at least 6 years old at the time of travel on the Taste of Tuscany trip. This is based on several factors, such as flight time and jet lag, time zone differences in the destination, duration of the vacation, extended hours of daily activity programming and amount of physical activity (e.g., walking) involved. Because each child is different, please contact us to discuss whether this is the right trip for each child being considered.

What types of meals are served during this itinerary?
Typically, breakfast is served each morning in buffet style and offers a variety of dishes. Dinners and lunches usually include fish, meat, and pasta or rice entrées; vegetables and salad; and desserts and fruit. Some included meals on this trip are served buffet style while others offer a limited-choice menu. Given the nature of group travel, á la carte menu choices may not always be available.  Children-friendly choices are available at all meals. Menu items are subject to change due to the availability and seasonality of foods. In order to offer each Guest a bit of time to enjoy meals amongst themselves, there are some meals that are not included in the itinerary. These meals have been planned in towns or cities where there are plenty of options available.  For questions or concerns about dining at any time during the vacation, the Adventure Guides will be happy to assist.

Can special dietary needs be accommodated?
Adventures by Disney can accommodate some special dietary needs at no additional charge. Unfortunately, some special dietary needs requested may not be able to be accommodated. Please contact us in advance to advise of special needs prior to departure.

Alcoholic beverages are typically not included with scheduled meals, however, they may be purchased at the Guests own expense.

Is this itinerary appropriate for travelers with special needs?
Please note that this vacation includes activities that present certain challenges to Guests with special needs. It is strongly recommended that persons requiring assistance be accompanied by a companion who is capable of and totally responsible for providing assistance. Neither Adventures by Disney nor its suppliers may physically lift or assist Guests onto transportation vehicles. Please contact us to discuss specific needs.

What is the local language and currency of Italy?
While the primary language of Italy is Italian, many people speak some English. The unit of currency in Italy is the Euro (EUR). U.S. dollars are not accepted at hotels, shops, or restaurants, but ATM machines are available in most places along your adventure to obtain cash in the local currency. Most hotels and restaurants accept major credit cards or debit cards in addition to travelers checks. Adventure Guides can help with any currency issues or language barriers.

Are tips included?

  • Adventures by Disney has taken care of certain tips and gratuities for all included meals and activities such as tips for porters, housekeepers, drivers, activity providers, local experts, and dining room staff for included meals.
  • On Your Own Dining Gratuities: When eating at a restaurant, a gratuity is usually included in the bill.  However, Guests who feel they have received exceptional service, may leave an additional gratuity. Many choose to simply “round up.”
  • Adventure Guide Gratuities: Gratuities for Adventures Guides are not included. For Guests who feel that their Adventure Guides have provided excellent service, the following discretionary gratuity is suggested : Per Guest/Per Adventure guide/Per Day - $5-$8 USD.  Adventure Guides accept local currency, U.S. dollars, and travelers’ checks.

What if Adventures by Disney cancels the adventure prior to departure?
Adventures by Disney reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an adventure at any time for any reason, such as if there are too few Guests or if the quality of the trip or the safety of the Guests would, in Disney’s opinion, be compromised, such as from unforeseen circumstances (acts of God) or other circumstances beyond Adventures by Disney's control.

  • If air is purchased through Adventures by Disney Travel Services, Inc., Disney will attempt to re-book for another departure of the same adventure during the same season, subject to availability, and Disney will bear any resulting airline re-booking charges. If unable to re-book on another departure, a full refund of all payments that had been made to Disney for the canceled adventure will be issued, including land package, airfare and Vacation Protection Plan (unless you have filed a claim), which refund shall constitute a full settlement.
  • If air is not purchased through Adventures by Disney Travel Services, Inc., and Disney cancels an adventure prior to its scheduled start date, Disney will attempt to re-book for another departure of the same adventure during the same season, subject to availability; however, the Guest will bear any resulting airline re-booking charges. If unable to re-book on another departure, Disney’s sole obligation is to refund payment received for the land portion and Vacation Protection Plan (unless you have filed a claim), which refund shall constitute a full settlement. Disney assumes no responsibility for any losses incurred by you on account of non-refundable air tickets or otherwise.

    • In Rome, quads having more than two Guests over the age of 12 must be accommodated in two connecting rooms each having either two twin beds or one queen bed.
    • All other quads in Rome are accommodated in one junior suite with two rollaways and either one queen bed or two twin beds.
    • In Tuscany, quads are accommodated in a two-bedroom apartment with one queen bed and either two twin beds or one twin bed and a sofa bed.
