Special Update:
Emergency efforts are under
way to help victims affected
by a large earthquake that
landed off the coast of Ica,
Peru on August 15. Our
thoughts are with the people
of Canete, Chincha, Pisco,
Paracas, Ica, and Nasca.
Besides these areas, life
across Peru is "as usual"
with no damage resulting
from the earthquake. The
destinations in Peru that
Adventures by Disney
guests will visit have not
been affected.

this quaint town’s narrow cobblestone

(elevation 9160 ft. above sea level).

option of hiking down into the ruin by
taking the ancient Incan path,
experiencing its history on its steep
and uneven stairs. From Moray, travel to
Maras for a colorful performance by a
local dance troop, followed by a picnic
lunch with spectacular views of the
Sacred Valley.
Salt Pans of Maras

tasting for adults and local fruit
juices for Junior Adventurers. Then

Dinner)
Train to Machu Picchu Enjoy the memorable and scenic
train journey to Aguas Calientes, where
you board a coach to Machu Picchu - “the
lost city of the Incas” and one of the 7
New Wonders of the World.
Machu Picchu As your private motor coach
climbs to the site of Machu Picchu
(elevation 8000 ft. above sea level),
anticipate the extraordinary sight of
these magnificent structures surrounded
by green peaks glazed by a soft mist.
You may even see llamas peacefully
grazing among the terraces. After a tour
led by a local expert, spend the
afternoon exploring the fascinating
ruins and stunning views on your own.
Remember that this amazing hike is at a
high altitude and requires climbing and
descending steep, uneven stairs. Take
time to sit and marvel at the wonders
around you.
Pisac Market On the way to Cusco, stop at
lively Pisac Market where you can shop
for local crafts, silver jewelry and
alpaca sweaters. Practice your bartering
skills or simply enjoy browsing at the
colorful stalls.

Incanto, an Italian-inspired restaurant
.

explore historic Cusco (elevation 11,200
ft. above sea level) with a local
expert. View the charming Spanish
buildings and the amazing stone
foundations of the original Inca city.
Afterwards, stroll through the
cobblestone streets of this colonial
jewel and discover more treasures on
your own. Again, pace yourself for the
high altitude and occasional steep
streets. The town is filled with
wonderful places to rest. *Cusco hotels are
either Casa Andina Private Collection or
the Libertador Palacio del Inka
depending on departure date.
The Stones of Sacsayhuaman Just outside Cusco is the
imposing Inca fortress Sacsayhuaman,
where 200-ton stones were moved miles
with no modern machinery. Wander through
the ruins and tunnels and take photos of
the panoramic views. A local expert is
there to explain the history and answer
your questions. After the tour you may
choose to join an Adventure Guide for a
steep downhill walk back to town.
Lunch on Your Own and Afternoon
Activities Spend your final afternoon on
your own in Cusco discovering its many
charms. Your Adventure Guides can
suggest where you can enjoy a family
lunch. Later, each adventurer may paint
a traditional, locally-made wooden frame
as a keepsake.
Dinner at Casa Andina Dine on delicious local and
international cuisine in your hotel’s
historic colonial restaurant. Junior
Adventurers have their own special menu.
Farewell Lunch Following a short flight to
Lima, enjoy a special farewell lunch
with your fellow travelers at Casa
Aliaga. This magnificent colonial
mansion is the longest continually
inhabited family home in Peru. Pay
attention, though, because the mansion
is rumored to be haunted! Cap off your
exciting week with a splendid meal and
musical entertainment.
Afternoon in Lima
Following lunch, you may relax at the
Casa Andina Private Collection hotel
located in the trendy Lima neighborhood
of Miraflores. Your Adventure Guides
will be happy to make arrangements for

Since
flight schedules to the United States

Disney includes this final
night's accommodation as a convenience
should your flight leave the following
morning. For Guests departing on Day 9,
breakfast at the hotel is included.
Please note, however, that there are no
other activities or meals following

processed if applying for a new passport or renewing an

www.state.gov for further details. In addition, guests
17 years of age or younger may be required to show
additional documentation when traveling with a single

day. At the end of the adventure, Guests will transfer to
Lima International Airport (LIM). In order to enjoy the

What
is the climate like?
In Peru, the months of June-September (the South American
winter) are referred to as “the dry season.” The areas
visited in this itinerary are generally clear and sunny.
Although weather might vary, Peru generally has the
following climate conditions:
Lima (sea level)
June - October average temperatures: Highs in the
mid to high 60s, lows in the high 50s to low 60s.
Sacred Valley and Cusco
(approximately 9,000’ & 11,000’ respectively)
June - October average temperatures: Highs in the high
60s, lows in the high 30s to low 40s.
September and October: Occasional rain showers,
averaging 7 days of rain per month.
Should there be concern about the altitude?
Most of this adventure takes place at altitudes ranging from
8,000 feet above sea level to 11,200 feet above sea level.
Cusco is located at about 11,200 feet above sea level.
Because the adventure starts in the lower Sacred Valley
(9,200 ft) and Machu Picchu (8,000 ft), Guests have a chance
to get slightly acclimated before reaching the higher
elevation of Cusco.
Altitude does affect some people.
Individuals may initially experience some shortness of
breath and heart pounding. Other symptoms include:
headaches, loss of appetite, nausea and feeling weak and
dizzy. Generally, the effects of altitude sickness are
mitigated by drinking lots of water, resting periodically,
avoiding alcohol and eating lightly. Guests are encouraged
to consult with a physician to determine if this adventure
is appropriate and whether prescription medications to
prevent altitude sickness might be beneficial. <Return to top
How strenuous are the activities?
This is an active journey that includes walking through Inca
ruins, on uneven surfaces, up and down irregular stairs and
on cobblestone streets. Rafting on the Apumayo River (class
II) is considered gentle. Bear in mind that most of the trip
is at altitudes between 8,000 - 11,000 feet above sea level.
The itinerary has been created purposely with the highest
altitude (Cusco) towards the end of the adventure. <Return to top
What is the basis for the suggested minimum age for this
trip?
While Disney welcomes children ages 4 and up at the time of
travel, it is recommended that children be at least 8 years
old at the time of travel on the Sacred Valleys and Incan
Cities trip. This is based on several factors, such as
flight time and jet lag, time zone differences in the
destination, duration of the vacation, high altitude at the
destination, extended hours of daily activity programming,
number of internal transports between experiences, potential
for extreme temperatures in the summer months, and amount of
physical activity (e.g., walking on uneven surfaces, up and
down stairs, and cobblestone sidewalks) involved. Because
each child is different, please contact us to discuss
whether this is the right trip for each child being
considered. <Return to top
What types of meals are served during this Peru itinerary?
Typically, breakfast is served buffet style. Some lunches
and dinners are also served buffet style, while others offer
a limited-choice menu. Dinners and lunches usually include
fish, meat, and pasta or rice entrées, soup, vegetables,
desserts and fruit, along with a chance to try Peruvian
specialties. While the menus have been planned to give a
taste of typical Peruvian cuisine, they are always balanced
with limited American fare. Given the nature of group
travel, á la carte menu choices are not available.
Children-friendly choices are available at all meals. Menu
items are subject to change due to the availability and
seasonality of foods. In order to offer each Guest a bit of
time to enjoy meals amongst themselves, there are some meals
that are not included in the itinerary. These meals have
been planned in towns or cities where there are plenty of
options available. For questions or concerns about dining
at any time during the vacation, the Adventure Guides will
be happy to assist. <Return to top
Can special dietary needs be accommodated? Adventures by Disney can accommodate some
special dietary needs at no additional charge.
Unfortunately, some special dietary needs requested may not
be able to be accommodated. Please contact us in advance to
advise of special needs prior to departure. <Return to top
Is
alcohol included? Alcoholic beverages are typically not included with
scheduled meals, however, they may be purchased at the
Guests own expense. <Return to top
Is
this itinerary appropriate for travelers with special needs?
Please note that this vacation includes activities that
present certain challenges to Guests with special needs. It
is strongly recommended that persons requiring assistance be
accompanied by a companion who is capable of and totally
responsible for providing assistance. Neither
Adventures by Disney nor its suppliers may
physically lift or assist Guests onto transportation
vehicles. Please contact us to discuss specific needs. <Return to top
What is the language and currency of Peru?
The primary language spoken in Peru is Spanish. Guests will
also hear the indigenous language of Quechua spoken in the
Cusco area. Adventure Guides can help with any language
issues.
The monetary currency in Peru is the
Nuevo Sol, though many businesses accept American dollars.
In cities, ATM machines are available to obtain cash in the
local currency, and credit or debit cards are usually
accepted. ATMs are scarce in the Sacred Valley, so guests
should be sure to obtain some local currency upon arrival in
Lima - the airport has convenient exchange booths in the
baggage claim area. On Day 2, Guests will not have an
opportunity to visit an ATM in Lima as there is a flight
directly to Cusco in the morning. No ATMs are available in
the Sacred Valley and ATMs/ banks are not available until
Day 6 in Cusco. <Return to top

Adventures by Disney's control.
