KIDS PROGRAMS

If you're a kid, then "Adventure Ocean" is just for you. Especially designed program for toilet-trained kids from 3 to 12 and teens from 13 to 17. The "family" vacation will
never be the same again because with "Adventure Ocean" parents get a bit of free
time to themselves and kids get time to PARTY!! They even get special meals and
play areas. No one caters to kids like Royal Caribbean.

Exclusive Coke Program - On a Royal Caribbean Cruise, children have their own
beverage programs, too. Young cruisers, 17 years and under, can have as many
fountain soft drinks as they like for a fixed price by participating in the Kid's Coke Special. Kids 17 and younger pay $4.00 per person per day plus a 15% gratuity. For teens 17 and older, and adults, the charge is $6.00 per person per day plus the 15 % gratuity

Top Picks for Alaska - Brillance of the Seas & Vision of the Seas.  Royal Caribbean goes out of its way to treat families well. "Adventure Ocean" is the onboard program that caters to kids and teens in four age groups: Aquanauts, for toilet trained 3-5 year olds; Explorers, aged 6-8; Voyageurs, aged 9-12 and Navigators for teens, 13-17.

Under the supervision of well qualified counselors, kids and teens enjoy a variety of "edutainment" throughout the cruise. These ships include an entire area just for junior cruisers and the facilities are second to none. A separate teen center gives the Navigators their own space for hanging out plus an ultra-modern lounge with dance floor and special lighting effects. The entertainment options are many including a well equipped arcade in a neighboring room.

There are special children's menus.  In-cabin babysitting is available for children over 6 months at a rate of US$8.00 per hour (minimum of two hours). This service is limited and can be booked at the Purser's Desk on a first-come-first-serve basis

Ideas For Traveling With Small Kids

  • Get a small suitcase with wheels for your youngster. It makes them feel like they’re helping and in charge of their own stuff.
  • Going to the beach? Let each person have his or her own net bag for towels, snorkels, etc. Put tissues and snacks in plastic bags for ready access.
  • You can buy faucet covers to use to protect small children from the very hot water that hotels and ships sometimes have.
  • Tie a red ribbon or favorite toy to the room door so children can find their cabin easily.
  • Set up rules and discuss ahead of time how important they are: such as no running in the corridors or anywhere else, no screaming or shouting in the pool or elsewhere, always wearing a life jacket in the tender.
Children's Facilities:
With the diversions that abound, you may wonder what else kids could possibly need on this ship. But Royal Caribbean's "Adventure Ocean" youth programs offers plenty. The youth activities manager tells an assembled group of enthusiastic youngsters: "We're trained to party, stay up late and eat pizza with you." Yaaaaay!

The "Adventure Ocean" youth program has age-specific facilities and programs supervised by youth counselors for Aquanauts (age 3-5, must be toilet trained), Explorers (age 6-8), Voyagers (age 9-11), Mariners (age 12-14) and Teens (age 15-17). The program runs year-round in the Caribbean, Bermuda, Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska. Parents can leave their children at Adventure Ocean while they take shore excursions. For this purpose, the facilities open 30 minutes ahead of morning shore excursion departures. Otherwise, organized activities are offered from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with group babysitting from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for a fee. Teen centers are now open past 2 a.m. Teens will find their own private coffee house and disco.

A new program for infants and toddlers 6 months to 3 years, in partnership with toy maker Fisher-Price, will be rolled out fleetwide by the end of March 2005. The program offers 45-minute playgroups for children accompanied by an adult, involving storytelling, creative arts, music and a variety of Fisher-Price learning toys and games. Aqua Babies are six months to 18 months old while Aqua Tots are 18 months to three years old.

Private babysitting is offered from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., provided sitters are available, for children from one year old. The rate is usually between $8.00 and $10 per per hour depending on the number of children in the family. Cash payment is made directly to the sitter. Arrange through Guest Services at least 24 hours in advance.

TIP: To save money on the soft drinks your kids will guzzle, we recommend purchasing RCI's all-you-can-drink soft drink package. The package includes fountain sodas and juices at all bars, lounges, dining rooms and private destinations. Kids 17 and younger pay $4.00 per person per day plus a 15% gratuity. For teens 17 and older, and adults, the charge is $6.00 per person per day plus the 15 % gratuity. Another bonus is the self-serve frozen yogurt machine (with sprinkles) in the Royal Promenade.
